[Solitary metastasis in the spleen originating from pulmonary adenocarcinoma, verified by ultrasonically guided fine needle biopsy].

F Johansen1.

Abstract

Metastasis of various neoplasms to the spleen is very rare and most frequently recognized at autopsy as part of a disseminated cancer. The case of a woman aged 55 years who had been treated operatively for an adenocarcinoma of the lung is presented here. The sole detectable distant metastasis was located in the spleen and diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration under ultrasonic guidance.
