Abstract
Resource allocation decisions affecting health and medical care must be based on sound ethical and economic analysis. Should physicians be involved in these discussions? Some posit that physicians must be patient-advocates, and thus, cannot participate. Others argue that physicians have an integral role to play in shaping the health care system. This article proposes a role for physicians at all levels of resource allocation discussions.Entities:
