Preserving dignity for disabled people.

C Goodall.

Abstract

This article examines the dignity of disabled people, and how it is threatened in society. More importantly, it discusses how nurses may enhance that dignity in their interactions with disabled clients and in their dealings, through research, writing, and education, with a wider society. The author, disabled, argues that taking a pure client-centred approach to care is the first positive step nurses can take in improving conditions for disabled people.
