Abstract
In many centres laparoscopic cholecystectomy has become the procedure of choice for symptomatic gallbladder stones. By comparison with conventional cholecystectomy it appears to be associated with minimal morbidity, shorter hospital stay, earlier return to work and a better cosmetic result.
