Pediatric thoracic trauma: imaging considerations.

Imaging plays an important role in the evaluation of the pediatric thorax following blunt and penetrating trauma. This essay reviews important differences between children and adults with respect to the pattern of thoracic injury. Additionally, the role of various imaging modalities in the assessment is discussed. Finally, the spectrum of pediatric thoracic injury is provided.
