Abstract
More than 2000 million people live in areas where malaria transmission occurs and are therefore at risk of being infected. It follows that 1000 million people are exposed to the risks of malaria when pregnant. Although the special features of malaria during pregnancy have been recognized for nearly a century(1), it is only recently that it is being considered as a priority for malaria research and control, as discussed here by Clara Menendez.Entities:
