Abstract
We describe 3 returned travellers who developed profuse watery diarrhoea associated with marked blood eosinophilia. Delayed appearance of ova in stool samples caused difficulty in establishing diagnoses of acute hookworm infection. Low activity of ivermectin against hookworm resulted in failure of empiric treatment with this agent prior to parasitological diagnosis.Entities:
