Abstract
A 63 year old woman developed a swelling of the submandibular glands following PTCA. An ENT specialist made the presumptive diagnosis of viral sialadenitis. The submandibular swelling subsided completely within 48 hours. Sialadenitis is a rare side effect of ionic and nonionic radiocontrast agents. The pathogenic mechanism is not known. The swelling is self-limited with an excellent prognosis without specific therapy.Entities:
