Health and work productivity assessment: state of the art or state of flux?

Christopher J Evans1.

Abstract

This article describes current models and methods for productivity measurement in health care research, examines different methods of data collection, and assesses the ease in which they may be used in research. Specific issues regarding the validity of current measurement tools and self-reported data are examined. Concerns about the interpretation of study results, international adaptation of work productivity questionnaires, and regulatory issues also are reviewed.
