Isolated abducens nerve palsy in hemolytic uremic syndrome.

Anne Durkan1, Shay Menascu, Valerie Langlois.

Abstract

Isolated abducens nerve (VI cranial nerve) palsies are reported in a dialyzed child with Escherichia coli 0157:H7-associated hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). There were no other neurological manifestations and he made a complete recovery, suggesting that isolated abducens nerve palsy in HUS may represent a minor neurological complication.
