Abstract
Neonates are at considerable risk for bacterial and fungal infections,due in great part to a variety of age-related impairments in neutrophil function. In addition, evidence suggests that the tendency of the most immature neonates to develop chronic inflammatory disorders is also related to neutrophil dysfunction. This article provides an overview of specific functional deficiencies of neutrophils that have been reported in neonates.Entities:
