Abstract
Terminal fibers anterogradely labeled with Phaseolus vulgaris leucoagglutinin (PHA-L) were observed in the locus coeruleus in the brainstem of the cat and the cynomolgus monkey following injections in lamina I of the spinal or medullary dorsal horn. Thus, thermoreceptive- or nociceptive-specific lamina I cells that project to the locus coeruleus could directly influence arousal, vigilance, and the descending control of spinal integration.Entities:
