Abstract

BACKGROUND: Brown tumors, evidence for severe hyperparathyroidism, are rare in end-stage renal disease, and are distinctly uncommon in patients with a functioning renal transplant. CASE REPORTS: We report two cases of brown tumors developing after renal transplantation, and discuss their presentation and treatment. We review the literature.
CONCLUSIONS: We suggest that persistent hyperparathyroidism post-renal transplant requires aggressive intervention to avoid significant consequences.
