Abstract
Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is the preferred agent for prophylaxis against Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia. Alternative agents are used in treating patients who do not tolerate this medication. We report 2 cases of prophylaxis failure in patients receiving low-dose atovaquone. We discuss the use of atovaquone as an alternative agent for prophylaxis in transplant recipients.Entities:
