Abstract

Background: We investigated circulating relaxin (RLX) and its potential role in human congestive heart failure (CHF) at rest and after physical exercise.
Methods: A total of 10 healthy controls and 35 patients with stable CHF were enrolled in the study.
Results: RLX plasma concentrations at rest and after exercise were comparable in patients with CHF and in controls.
Conclusion: These findings suggest that RLX does not play a major role as a circulating hormone in human CHF.
