Abstract
Branchiogenic carcinoma is extremely rare. A 41-year-old man presented with a well-defined, fluctuant, painless mass on his right neck and received complete tumour excision. The pathological diagnosis was branchial cleft squamous cell carcinoma, which was characterized microscopically by a branchial cleft cyst with a tumour and a non-tumour transitional zone. In the past, several hundred cases were reported erroneously because of the rather complicated diagnostic criteria. The modified criteria of Khafif introduced in 1989 are more practical, and all were met in this case.Entities:
