Abstract
Androgens are important determinants of body composition in men. Androgen-deprivation therapy, the mainstay of treatment for advanced prostate cancer, increases fat mass and decreases lean body mass. These adverse changes in body composition may contribute to treatment-related fatigue, fracture risk, insulin resistance, and increased cardiovascular disease risk. Potential strategies to treat or prevent these adverse body composition changes include exercise training, alternative forms of hormonal therapy, and insulin-sensitizing agents.Entities:
