Issues relating to effective pain management in young people.

Adolescents deserve the same standards of pain management as children and adults. But to achieve this, health professionals need to consider additional psychological and philosophical issues in this age group. This paper examines how adolescent development impacts on pain assessment and areas such as capacity and consent, and concordance to treatment.
