Antibacterial activity of ent-kaurene diterpenoids from Rabdosia rosthornii.

Isao Kubo1, Yunlong Xu, Kuniyoshi Shimizu.

Abstract

Biological activities of ent-kaurene diterpenoids, rosthornins A-D, isolated from the ether extract of the dried leaves of Rabdosia rosthornii (Diels) Hara (Labiatae) were tested. They exhibited antibacterial activity specifically against Gram-positive bacteria, among which Propionibacterium acnes was noted to be the most susceptible. Copyright 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
