Abstract
Buried bumper syndrome is a rare complication among patients with PEG for long-term feeding. Tight fixation of the external bumper causes pressure necrosis beneath the internal bumper. This leads to the internal bumper's penetration of the deeper gastric wall, where it is completely overgrown by gastric mucosa. A method is shown how the buried bumper can be removed without an operation. This method was used successfully in seven patients. The buried bumper syndrome can be avoided with careful precautions.Entities:
