Neonatal genital prolapse.

L McGlone1, S Patole.

Abstract

Genital prolapse is a rare condition in neonates. It is most commonly associated with neural tube defects such as spina bifida. A preterm, growth restricted neonate with genital prolapse without an associated central nervous system anomaly is reported. The risk factors, management and outcome of neonatal genital prolapse are reviewed. The importance of in utero undernutrition as a predisposing factor is emphasized.
