Abstract
We prospectively followed 426 children with chronic hepatitis B virus infection. During 6250 person-years, 2 boys developed hepatocellular carcinoma, with an incidence of 32 per 100,000 person-years. Both had e antigen seroconversion in early childhood and cirrhosis. Early e antigen seroconversion and/or cirrhosis may be risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma.Entities:
