Abstract
The transport of iron from mother to fetus presents a number of challenges, none more perplexing than determining how the flow can be unidirectional, yet avoid mixing the mother's serum proteins with the fetal system. Studies with cultured cell lines suggest a possible mechanism by which this may be achieved.Entities:
