Abstract
The advent of diffusion-weighted MR imaging and diffusion tensor MR imaging has had little impact on brain tumor detection. Diffusion-weighted imaging has been effective in characterizing specific types of masses, particularly in distinguishing epidermoids from arachnoid cysts, and cystic tumors from intracerebral abscesses. Presurgical planning using tractography with diffusion tensor MR imaging, and perhaps the evaluation of tumor response to chemotherapy and radiation therapy with diffusion-weighted imaging, may become important applications in the near future.Entities:
