Abstract
This naturalistic study aimed at evaluating the implementation of an additional symptom-oriented intervention program for patients with panic disorder and/or agoraphobia in a psychodynamic inpatient setting. Patients receiving this intervention showed a significantly better therapy outcome as measured by the symptom-specific scales of the SCL-90-R compared to anxiety patients who had not undergone this additional treatment. This specific improvement was stronger than the general improvement found in therapy outcome over time. Our findings show that the combination of different treatment strategies in one setting may prove effective. However, some problems are discussed which may emerge in clinical practice.Entities:
