Abstract
Nine flavonoids (1-9) have been isolated from Kaempferia parviflora. Among these, 5,7,4'-trimethoxyflavone (8) and 5,7,3',4'-tetramethoxyflavone (9) exhibited antiplasmodial activity against Plasmodium falciparum, with IC50 values of 3.70 and 4.06 microg/ml, respectively. 3,5,7,4'-Tetramethoxyflavone (7) and compound 8 possessed antifungal activity against Candida albicans with respective IC50 values of 39.71 and 17.63 microg/ml, and also showed mild antimycobacterial activity with the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 200 and 50 microg/ml, respectively. However, none of the isolated compounds demonstrated cytotoxicity against KB, BC and NCI-H187 cell lines.Entities:
