Abstract

This report deals with the fundamental quantum physics behind two-photon excitation also providing a link to the experimental consequences exploited in microscopy. The optical sectioning effect is demonstrated as well as the distribution of excitation and of fluorescence emission. Copyright 2003 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
