Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To determine the difference in gene expression between human multiple myeloma (MM) and normal bone marrow.
METHODS: cDNA chip was used to detect the mRNA of mononuclear cell from 10 untreated MM patients and 10 cases of normal bone marrow.
RESULTS: Of the 2,048 genes, we found 566 different expression genes, of which the expression of 237 genes was higher and 329 lower in MM than in the normal bone marrow.
CONCLUSION: Many genes may be involved in the pathogenesis of MM. cDNA chip technology is an effective tool in the study of tumor related genes.
