Abstract
One of the major obstacles to successful axon regeneration in the adult CNS is the presence of inhibitory molecules that are associated with myelin. Recent studies have identified several major myelin-associated inhibitors along with the relevant signaling molecules. Such advances have not only enhanced our understanding of the signaling mechanisms that are involved in the inhibition of axon regeneration in the adult CNS but also allowed us to assess the therapeutic potential of blocking these inhibitory influences to promote axon regeneration.Mesh:
