Abstract
Kallikrein and minute amounts of kininogen have been found in rat cardiac tissue. The mRNA for kallikrein was also determined by the polymerase chain reaction using KK-specific probe. The existence of an intrinsic kallikrein-kinin system in the heart raises the possibility that the enzyme-peptide system is involved in local regulation of cardiac function and metabolism.Entities:
