Abstract
Hematological toxicity is the most common and the most frequent fatal complication of chemotherapy. It is observed with increased frequency with age, it is a significant independent predictor of the development of febrile neutropenia, and may contribute to a reluctance to administer chemotherapy in the elderly patient population. The authors analyze published data on effectiveness and results of the use of colony stimulating factors for preventing and treating elderly patients affected by tumors during chemotherapy.Entities:
