[Epidemiology of venous thrombosis].

Joseph Emmerich1.

Abstract

Venous thrombo-embolic disease (VTE) is a frequent pathology, responsible for around 10,000 deaths each year in France. Post-thrombotic sequellae is also a main problem related to the disease. The epidemiology of acquired and genetic risk factors of VTE is better understood and has allowed to show that in many cases it is a multifactorial disease. The association of several environmental or genetic and their analysis in the physiopathology of the disease and in the risk of recurrency is important in order to allow a better prevention of the disease and of its recurrencies.
