Health care assistants: developing their role to include nursing tasks.

Detailed information about the educational needs and aspirations of health care assistants in acute care settings is scarce. A study was undertaken across four acute trusts to develop an advanced health care assistant training programme. The findings support the drive to further develop the role of this workforce group.
