Abstract
The introduction of specialized syringes in the late 1970s and early 1980s has led to an increase in the use of intraligamentary anaesthesia as a means of pain control in dentistry. This paper reviews the technique and its efficacy and considers the advocated advantages and disadvantages of the method in the light of the published scientific evidence. It is concluded that intraligamentary anaesthesia has a role to play in modern dental local anaesthesia but it does not fulfil all the requirements of a primary technique.Entities:
