Abstract
The in situ attachment of capsular polysaccharide of type 6A pneumococci was examined by immunoelectron microscopy using anti-type 6A monoclonal antibody. The result discloses an asymmetrical cross-section of pneumococcal cell walls because capsular polysaccharides are located on the outer surface of the walls only, in contrast to the cell wall polysaccharide, which has been shown to be located on both surfaces.Entities:
