Abstract
We diagnosed 16 rotator cuff tears in 109 shoulders in 104 patients with a traumatic anterior dislocation. Twelve of these were followed up for an average of 32 months. A surgical repair of the cuff was carried out in eleven and the results were satisfactory in eight (73%) regardless of a Bankart lesion. The repair of a torn cuff seems to be sufficient to stabilise the shoulder in elderly patients, even when a Bankart lesion is present and is not repaired.Entities:
