Abstract
Muscle strips taken from chronically denervated hemidiaphragms of guinea pigs immunized to ovalbumin react in vitro to the administration of small amounts of this protein with a contraction similar to that of visceral muscle in the Schultz-Dale reaction. A sustained shortening is produced by histamine on denervated diaphragmatic muscle from both sensitized and nonsensitized guinea pigs.Entities:
