NEUROSPORA BETA-GALACTOSIDASE: EVIDENCE FOR A SECOND ENZYME.

W K BATES, D O WOODWARD.

Abstract

Two enzymes which hydrolyze the artificial substrate o-nitro-phenyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside are produced by Neurospora. These enzymes precipitate at widely different concentrations of ammonium sulfate and differ with respect to induction, pH optima, sedimentation, and thermal stability.
