Abstract
The rate of penetration of gaseous sterilizing agents into confined spaces can be predicted from physical and chemical considerations. The exposure times required to obtain sterilizing concentrations of ethylene oxide in several configurations of confined space were predicted by computation and illustrated by experiment.
