Abstract
The need to focus on the nursing care of the acute and chronically ill HIV-infected person is made apparent by an examination of recent data on the prevalence of this disease. A nursing system framework of quality of care is proposed, which includes patient problems (inputs), nursing care activities (processes), and patient outcomes (outcomes).
