The synthesis of ribosomes in E. coli. II. Analysis of the kinetics of tracer incorporation in growing cells.

Abstract

Equations are derived representing the flow of radioactive tracer in a sequence of reactions. The conditions under which the equations are applicable are defined. A function varphi, representing the newly synthesized fraction is defined, and its use in the analysis of precursor-product relationships is discussed.
