Abstract
Thirty-six chicks were exposed to motionless geometric objects during the third, fourth, and fifth days of life to test the contention that retinal flicker is an irreducible condition of imprinting. The results indicated that the only necessary condition for a positive effect is that the model should be prominently displayed in the animal's visual environment. Keywords: FLICKER FUSION; LEARNING
