Dishware as a possible source of lead poisoning.

A R LEONARD, G LYNCH.

Abstract

In January, 1958, Public Health officials encountered a potentially significant source of exposure to lead in the form of improperly glazed imported dishware. Upon exposure to low-acid foods, the lead in the glazes of these dishes went into solution and could be ingested. Information on the distribution of such dishes indicates that many are probably still in use in homes and eating establishments and in some areas may still be on the commercial market.
