Abstract
The approach to imaging the gastrointestinal tract in neonates, including both the method of examination and the choice of contrast media, is specialized and requires close cooperation between the pediatric surgeon and the pediatric radiologist experienced in the evaluation and care of these children. Although the physical examination and the plain radiographic findings are occasionally sufficient to make a specific diagnosis, contrast studies are also frequently required. The use of the plain radiographs in planning the approach to further imaging and the selection of the appropriate contrast media for a variety of common situations are discussed.Entities:
