Abstract
Complications associated with tracheotomy are reduced by prompt operation when indications develop, by meticulous technical performance of operation and careful postoperative care. The selection of intratracheal tube according to size and form is one measure to reduce both mortality and morbidity. Among the complications are dry hemorrhagic tracheobronchitis with crusts, severe arrosion bleeding and quite frequently secondary tracheal stenosis. In some cases it is more advisable to perform the tracheostomy in which the trachea is brought to the skin and sewed in place-providing a permanent opening.Entities:
