Extramammary Paget's disease: diagnosis and disease pattern.

S P Chaudhuri1, B R Smoller.

Abstract

Extramammary Paget's disease is a rare cutaneous disorder. We report the clinical and histochemical features of five such cases. In all the cases studied, the lesions were located on the perineum of elderly women. None of the cases showed malignant proliferation invading the dermis. Recent observations suggest that extramammary Paget's disease is a disease of the apocrine glands. Immunoreactants to identify apocrine glands have been developed and can be used to confirm the diagnosis of extramammary Paget's disease.
