Abstract
After bone marrow transplantation, a number of viral infections contribute to the morbidity and mortality of the procedure. Established preventive measures to avoid primary infection and reactivation of herpes-and cytomegaloviruses are outlined. Possible future strategies against these viruses (e. g., monoclonal antibodies, transfer of T-lymphocytes) and the possible role of improved diagnostic tools are briefly discussed.Entities:
