Bridging mitotic defects and clinical diagnoses.

William Saunders1.

Abstract

Anaphase bridges are known to play important roles in generating the genetic instability of cancer cells. Now anaphase bridges are shown to be a candidate for a new diagnostic tool to distinguish between chromosomally stable and unstable tumors. These results emphasize the importance of mitotic defects to cancer and begin to translate our understanding of mitotic errors in tumor cells into tools the clinician can use.
