Abstract
The selective activation of a particular bond in a molecule has always been a desideratum in chemical synthesis. This Feature Article focuses on studying the mechanisms operative in the activation of carbon-fluorine bonds beyond solvated systems, i.e., on surfaces and in the gas phase.
