Abstract
We examined whether polymorphisms in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene are associated with the incidence of adult periodontitis (AP) and early-onset periodontitis (EOP) in case-controlled studies of Japanese and Chinese subjects. Restriction fragment length polymorphisms in the VDR gene detected by digestion with Taq I were found to be significantly associated with the occurrence of AP or EOP, suggesting that the VDR genotype a risk factor for periodontitis.Entities:
